Redeemer Dubai's History:
Of course, Redeemer Church of Dubai was conceived in the heart and mind of God in eternity past. But if you fast-forward into human history, in August 2008 several families began to dream together about planting a gospel-centered church in the heart of Dubai.
Over the next eighteen months, several leaders began meeting together to make plans and pray. What followed was a series of pre-launch meetings, first in the basement of a large home and then at a hotel. These were exciting times! Those few families were joined by about 80 other brothers and sisters. With our hearts full of hope in Christ and the strategic help of the United Christian Church of Dubai, Redeemer was planted on February 12, 2010.
The vision for the church was to "make disciples of all nations" by faithfully proclaiming the word of God. Our goal was simply to preach the word, pray the word, read the word, sing the word, and see the word displayed through the ordinances of the church. Plainly put, we believe that the gospel is the greatest news in the world which tells us about the greatest gift we could ever receive: fellowship with God through his Son, Jesus. Redeemer quickly grew to over 50 nationalities and eventually relocated our corporate gatherings from Deira City Centre to the JW Marriott (Deira) in August of 2011.
We're always conscious of the fact that we don't exist to make a name for ourselves, but for Christ. That's why we have been and will be committed to making disciples of all nations by helping to plant more gospel-preaching churches. We're thankful that God has allowed us to play a part in helping start the evangelical churches in RAK and Fujairah. Our focus on planting churches that plant churches reminds us that we are part of something far bigger than ourselves. To this end, we have also started a pastoral internship training program and a training centre focused on equipping and sending regionally-based pastors and leaders.
To God be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:21)
